Restrict transition of issues by role

Visvesvarryya Neelakantan August 29, 2018

Hi,

In my workflow i want only a specific group of people to transition issues to close status.

Ex: Only product managers can move the issue status from UAT to Release.

Internet blogs say you can restrict by editing the workflow scheme, but I don't get a way of adding this condition in text or diagram view.

We are using 7.3.4 version.

Any help on this is appreciated. Thank you.

Hi @Visvesvarryya Neelakantan,

You can try to edit the workflow and Add Condition To Transition, like

1.Condition to allow only users in a given group to execute a transition.

2.Condition to allow only users in a custom field-specified group to execute a transition.

3.Condition to allow only users in a given project role to execute a transition.

Hi, @Visvesvarryya Neelakantan and welcome to our community!

You should do this the following way:

1. Enter the edit mode and choose the required transition. Click "Conditions".

cond1.jpg

2. You can see, that there's already 1 condition by default:

cond2.jpg"Only users with Resolve Issues permission can execute this transition". Makes sense, right?

Now we need to create another condition:

cond3.jpgChoose the group on the next screen and this is pretty much it! :)

P.S. Don't forget to publish the workflow so that changes will be applied.

Hope this helps.
