Restrict a field being seen / edited by all but a certain User group

Hi all, 

I have a project with a certain field on, that needs to be only updatable by members of a certain usergroup.  the field can either be hidden, or read only by all other users.

Can anyone recommend a way of doing this?

Hi @Jenni Davison 

You can do this via a transaction on the workflow.

Only grant specific user or user groups, based on a condition to use this transaction and use a screen on the transaction whre this field is available

Remove the specific field from the edit screen of the issue type, place it only on the view screen and create screen if required

Thank you both for your help.  I've implemented this, and works for what I need.

Next question, is once the 'hidden/restricted' field has been populated, if we need to change it, is there a way?
