Resolved ticket disappears from board when assigned to future sprint

I’m observing the following behaviour on our board:

  • A ticket in Resolved status is assigned to a future sprint
  • When the current sprint is closed, the ticket disappears from the board
  • It only becomes visible again once the future sprint is started

My expectation was that the ticket should remain visible under the future sprint, similar to other tickets with statuses like Open, Approved, or In Progress.

Is this the expected behaviour, or could this be due to a board/workflow configuration?

Hi @Aditya Hosamani

This is expected behaviour on a scrum board, if you complete a sprint the board clears, until the next sprint is started.

What type of board are you referring to and can you provide screenshots of the board itself and configuration

Hi @Aditya Hosamani

When you complete a sprint, Jira automatically moves incomplete issues to the next sprint (or backlog) and treats Resolved/Done issues as completed work, regardless of what sprint they’re assigned to. Because of this, a ticket in resolved category is considered completed in the sprint, so it is removed from the active board. It only becomes visible again when you open the future sprint and the board query and filters allow it. So, I assume it is the expected behaviour, not a bug.

So, I'd suggest keeping your workflow simple and not assigning Done issues to future sprints in resolved category.
