Resolution is a required field, despite not being set to it. How can I fix this?

After editing the description or any other field of both Epic and Story, the Resolution field is now displaying the red asterisk of mandatory content. Editing cannot be saved until a resolution is entered. This is causing all issues to be displayed with their number in strikethrough script, which is really distrubing.

Below is the screenshot that proves that resolution is not a mandatory field.

Can someone please help me out?

Cheers!

It is not a mandatory field in the standard Jira way.

There is nothing you can do about its behaviour this way, you just have to use it properly.

That is never put it on any screen other than view or transition screens on transitions that go into a "closed" type status.  Do not put it on Create or Edit (in your case, you need to remove it as you've added it)

Thanks @Nic Brough -Adaptavist-. If I set resolution to Hide, would that fix the issue?

Yes, but it will cause Jira to think all your resolved issues are still open and unresolved.

You should not hide it, just use it as intended.  Clear it on "re-open" with the simple "set field to" post-function, and set it on "close" with either using a resolution screen, or setting it with the same "set field to" post-function.
