I have created a new project to use for "Procurement" -I have used a standard "classic business project" template.
I want to be able to email requests to my project, but from what I can see, this isnt possible. Is there a work around to make this possible?
You can set up an incoming mail handler. Settings > system > incoming mail. This article might help - creating-issues-and-comments-from-email
what type of project are we talking here? Are you sure the mail handler is setup correctly? Are you able to successfully do this for other projects?

Classic business project.
I have setup properly and are using it currently in other "service desk" projects.
Hence the question, is this possible in a classic business project?

Service desk projects are handled completely differently (project > project settings > email requests). With that said you should be able to do this in a classic project. I have been successful doing so. Maybe you could share the details of what you have configured for incoming mail: Server and Handler
