Renaming jira cloud status only partially renames

In jira cloud, I renamed a workflow status.  The status shows up properly on tickets that are assigned that status, but the workflow dropdown continues to use the old name.  It's now been several days since the change and there's still no update.

I haven't found a way to force a re-index (and I've seen posts saying that has been removed).

It won't let me delete the status and re-add a new one, since the workflow is active.  However, in jira cloud I don't see a way to make a workflow inactive or edit an inactive workflow.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

Did you rename the transitions as well as the status?  (You can do that in draft edit mode on an active workflow)

To make a workflow inactive, change all the projects that are using any workflow schemes that use that workflow to use schemes that do not use that workflow.

Deleting the transitions into the state and then recreating them solved it!  Thanks!
