In Data Center, we could see release notes for each marketplace app that was released.
In Cloud, I do not see a similar version history. I would prefer not to just blindly click Update on our Cloud apps without knowing what changed.
Will marketplace ever give us better release notes for Cloud apps or do we just have to contact every vendor each time to ask what changed?
Hello @David Yu
Short answer? Hard to say about future.
Cloud apps handle updates very differently than Data Center.
Because they operate as SaaS tools, minor changes deploy automatically. An explicit Update prompt mostly means the app is requesting new permissions, scopes, or licensing terms, which is why a centralized, Data Center-style version history isn't always available on the Marketplace listing.
If you are unsure about something, contacting vendor are always best way.

I know marketplace vendors complain about customers not updating their apps. I think this friction of not knowing what's different probably is a contributing factor.
If apps want to incentive updates, they should make it easier to discover what changed.

Well, in my opinion, the development of AI and rovo can help here, so we will see how it goes.

Hi @David Yu, I agree this is an awkward gap compared with Data Center. One place I would still check is Atlassian Administration > Apps > Release management > App updates. Atlassian's docs say organization admins can view app update release notes there and filter/search the list.
That said, I would not treat it as a full substitute for vendor release notes. For Marketplace apps where an update asks for new scopes, permissions, or terms, my practical checklist would be:
1. Check App updates in Atlassian Administration.
2. Check the vendor's documentation/changelog linked from the Marketplace listing.
3. If the change still is not clear, ask the vendor specifically what changed and whether permissions, data access, or billing terms are affected.
I would also like to see vendors make this clearer, especially when admin approval is required.
