A feature has been added to Jira where you can link a change request to a release. However, the release does not appear on the change request when it is linked. How are we able to display the release field on the change request? I attached a screenshot of the added feature: we added a test change request to the release. When you go to that test ticket, there is no linked issue or release field shown.
I decided that as a workaround I would try to expose the linked release in a custom field that would be populated by ScriptRunner however I haven't been able to find any Jira Software or JSM API which returns anything about the link between the two.
I also find it quite annoying that on the Release page the only information displayed about the linked change request is the status and the assignee's avatar. Wouldn't it make sense to at least display the change request issue key (and preferably summary) there also?
We want users viewing a change request to be able to at least click a link to the related release so I'm probably going to have to add a custom field where the Release's hyperlink can be pasted. That isn't great since the release ID in the URL doesn't give any indication as to even the project in which the release resides (and isn't really JQL search friendly) but it's better than nothing.
Interesting, I was not aware of this feature. Unfortunately when I view a Release page in one of my projects I do not see the "Add change request" option. Do you happen to have a link to the documentation for this feature? I have a feeling I'm missing something on my side which needs to be configured in order to see that option.
Conceptually are you adding a change request issue to the Release or are you just linking the two in some fashion? We are early in the design process for moving our change control to JSM and this specific topic came up in a user group meeting today so I am curious to learn more about how it works.
