Redesigning a Process for Task Handling

Dear Community,

I am looking into a specific task handling topic and your opinion around this.

We would like to make the handling of a certain task more efficient by creating 2 more statuses (in progress-custom 1-custom 2-resolved) and have custom1 and custom2 always assigned to a specific user within the project.

I have found some documentation around this (https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/how-to-automatically-change-the-assignee-when-transitioning-the-workflow-705954603.html) but not sure whether there are other options. Primary intention is to avoid breaching due dates by having fixed user assignments for 'reviewer' steps.

I would appreciate your thoughts and support here.
