I have a side-project that is worked on in spare time. I've checked recently and the Jira product was missing from my Atlassian cloud account.
This Jira project was under the free plan as there are less than 10 users in the account.
I received no emails to notify me that Atlassian was going to remove this Jira product, though I still receive Atlassian security bulletins.
Is it possible to get this Jira project restored?
After how long is a Jira plan considered to be inactive? And how long after that is the data kept dormant before being deleted? It might have been 4-6 months since I last checked in on this project.
Hi @bill_ruddock_els and welcome,
Cloud Free sites are deactivated after a period of inactivity.
Timeline :
60 days of inactivity - email is sent to tech contact, billing contact, site admin with the subject “[Action Required] Jump back in to <product name> to keep your subscription”
90 days of inactivity - email is sent to tech contact, billing contact, site admin with the subject “[Action Required] Your <product name> subscription will be cancelled in 30 days”
113 days of inactivity - a tech alert email is sent the to tech contact, billing contact, site admin with the subject “[Action Required] Your <product name> subscription will be cancelled in one week”
122 days of inactivity - site is deactivated and the tech contact, billing contact, and admin get an email with the title “[Important Notice] Your <product name> subscription has been deactivated”
The site can be restored during this period
162 days of inactivity - the site is deleted
The site is not recoverable past this point
Atlassian's Cloud deletion policies generally involve deleting all data associated with a cloud product, including apps, after a data retention period. This data retention period varies based on the plan or licencing (15 days for evaluation licenses, 60 days for free and standard/premium plans). Once data is deleted, it cannot be recovered.
Hope this helps,
Fabio
Unfortunately, it looks like my email forwarding for that address failed to pass those on. I've found them now, though it's too late. I'll restore a backup from before migrating to Jira so I've only lost a relatively small amount of information.
If I had realised there was a policy of deleting accounts for this period of inactivity, I would likely have thought to check in more often and take backups.
Thank you for clarifying the timescales. This is really useful to know.
Bill
