Hi There!

Does anyone know how to activate the button to create subtasks within a user story for a scrum classic project - scrum board?

I can create subtasks in the backlog but I need to create them within the user history

look at the options that I haveoptions in a User Story.PNG

Thanks.

Hello @Natalia Rodríguez ,

Two things -
1. you can only create subtasks if your Jira administrator has enabled subtasks

So, if you are jira admin can you make sure if subtasks is enabled , goto --> settings --> Issues --> Sub-tasks and make sure Sub-Tasks are turned ON

2. and if the subtask issue type is added to the project's issue type scheme

As a project admin, you can check your issuetype scheme from project --> project settings --> Issue types

Can you confirm above two things and see if you are missing any of the above configurations. For more info check this KB.

Best,
Sachin.

Hi @Sachin !!

Thanks for answering me but after verifying, I have the subtasks enabled, I don't know what else to do. I am desperate, how is it possible that this option does not appear in my Jira? look:

Interesting, I hope you have create issues permission in your project. A quick test - can you revert back to the old issue view and confirm if you are able to create a sub-task?

Within the user story, I clicked to return to the previous view but it does not show me anything about being able to create the tasks within it, look:

Thank you for checking that, can you please check your permission scheme and confirm you have "Create issues" permission.

Also, check this out - https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-69222 , I have see few posts where users reported that having a required field on "Create issue" screen for the sub-task is causing this issue. So, please make that required field option and see if it resolves the problem.

@Sachin  I saw the links but that doesn't help me solve the problem.

what do you mean with "make that required field option"?

Which option?  I don't understand you.

I couldn't find a way to activate that button, I'm wondering if this has to do with the Jira versions.

@Natalia Rodríguez,

- So, to know which field to make optional, goto your project settings --> Screens --> Edit Default Screen Scheme --> make a note of all the custom fields which are on "create issue" screen for subtask and then -

- goto project settings --> Fields --> Default field configuration --> Click pencil icon (to edit) --> look for the field which says required  and make it as optional.

Since you are on jira cloud, everyone is on same version. If you still are seeing the problem after following above steps you can open a support case with Atlassian support.
