Quick Search in JIRA for Sub-Tasks

Ian McGhie July 11, 2012

Using "Quick Search" for a Standard Issue type works fine: Entering the Issue Id (number only) gives a list of issues in all projects with that number.

Searching for a Sub-Task does not work the same way. The Key and Issue Id must be entered.

Is this a bug or is there a configuration that needs to be changed so Sub-Task searching work the same as Standard Issue searching?

Hi Jobin,

The behaviour I describe is consistent for all standard and all subtask issues in all projects.

We have discovered the functionality works as you previously advised however if the user is in a particular project and hits Enter when the number is entered into the Quick Search field.

The issue is opened immediately. This works for both standard and subtask issues and is OK for our users!

The other "problem" can perhaps be added to the list for the future.

I see what you mean. Quick Search in onDemand shows all the matching issues even before you press enter. The behavior I mentioned was for JIRA downloaded version.

I am not sure if it is different for subtasks though! Are you able to search any other standard issues in UKRT project?

"That is strange. It is supposed to give only the issues in the last visited project, irrespective of whether it is a subtask or standard issue."

Definitely strange - I would have expected the result to be as you advised but this is not the case. The images below demonstrate the current behaviour.
