Hi! I've a team of around 30 people using Jira and Confluence in my firm. Previously we were using Zoho Sprints but I migrated them to Jira and all is good. But as we're scaling, the cost of Jira on cloud with confluence is getting a bit expensive. That's why I want to know the pros and cons of having it deployed on premise.
If there are any other concern that I am missing? Your guidance is highly appreciated.
Hi @Hasnain Ali Mirza and welcome to the Community!
The lowest user tier on prem is 500 users and you will have to provide your own infrastructure and maintenance as well. There's not much saving to be done there, to be honest. Even on a 100 user tier, you will pay significantly less for Jira and Confluence premium on cloud than the lowest Jira Data Center option alone.
Atlassian is still providing updates, but is mainly investing in stability, scalability and performance, not very much in new features. The company is not making a big secret that it is investing all its big efforts in the cloud platform - if you read the shareholder letters, you'll notice that the recurring message is that at one point, also the data center users should one day move on to the cloud platform.
So both feature wise, from a cost perspective and looking to invest in a future-proof platform, the right choice would be to stay on the cloud platform, to be honest.
Hope this helps!

Can you share with us more about how it is "getting a bit expensive"? What are you comparing the cost to? How are they different? What were you expecting?
