Project Dashboard is Broken, unable to generate correct pie charts

Those new to the Atlassian Community have posted less than three times. Give them a warm welcome!
Getting nonsensical results from dashboards - where the pie chart shows that no sponsor is assigned (this is incorrect), but when you click in to view the list of tasks with no sponsors, the list is empty!
Evidently something is broken with dashboards, and it's not working as intended.
