Project Components - Different Project Key?

I have one project example "GCS" and several components under that project.  When I create a task or issue, etc. JIRA automatically names the item "GCS-123".  Is there a way for me to add some sort of indicator in the JIRA key that will make it obvious its for that particular component?

No, the best you can do is include the component field in your displays and reports.  Or, if the component really is critical to you, then consider promoting them, so that projects are what you used to use as components.
