Hi there!
I am not sure if it's possible so hoping to get some help. I would like to create a Project Automation rule to have a ticket update a specific field (ex. Effort) based on the time logged in the ticket. For example, if there is 30 minutes logged in the ticket, the ticket will update to be "Low" Effort. If it changes to be 2 hours logged in the ticket, the ticket will update to be Medium Effort. Is this possible and how could I create a Project Automation rule for this?
Hi Serena, welcome to the community.
Yes you should be able to do this and here are some quick guidelines to consider. I'm happy to work with you in more detail on this should you get stuck. The image below was just a quick test I threw together to illustrate the key components. Your trigger is going to be on value changes to time tracking. Your conditions should be in if else block and you can use different values for what do you want to Drive your custom Field value. In my test I just did a simple add comment action but you want to edit your custom field.
Thank you! I think I am almost there. Right now our time is logged in a sub-tasks for a ticket so when I created this new rule the sub-task ticket got updated with the Effort field. How can I make it so the Effort field in the parent ticket is updated?
