fernando javier echague April 11, 2024

Hi for everyone!!!

I need your help with some troubles with automatic rules.

I have created a high number of automatic rules, and yesterday a received a notificacion mail where describe that my work group is being using too much automatization rules. This problem ocurred when i tried to execute a recently rule created. The notificacion describes: with your current usage rate, you may be able to reach your limit before the end of the month. What can i do with this? Thank you so much.

Hello @fernando javier echague

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

Atlassian limits the number of rule executions allowed per month based on your product subscriptions. Once you reach that limit automation rules will no longer execute until the next month.

Here is the home page for the documentation on this topic.

https://www.atlassian.com/blog/announcements/cloud-automation-packaging-update

This includes a link to how usage is calculated and what the limits are:

https://support.atlassian.com/cloud-automation/docs/how-is-my-usage-calculated/

Rules executions are counted only when the rule executes a meaningful action. If the rule is triggered but has a condition that is not met and therefore doesn't execute any actions, then that is not counted against your limit. The document include details about that.

Some ways that you can reduce your usage include disabling rules, reducing the frequency of Scheduled rules, and adding conditions to check that the triggering issue meets a minimum set of criteria to continue the rule execution.

We can't provide more specific guidance unless you tell us more about your rules and provide the details of specific rules that you want to change to reduce their executions.

Hi @fernando javier echague

I’m Charlotte, a support engineer at Appfire and I’m here to help you.

Like Trudy said before, you can try reducing your usage by deactivating and changing some rules, using workflow post functions instead of automation for specific cases, or using 3rd-party apps.

If you are interested in acquiring a 3rd-party app, I’m here to offer you an option.

With Jira Misc Workflow Extensions you can create automations without impacting your Jira automation limits.

For example, you can create Scheduled automation and Event-based ones using a friendly UI that is similar to the Jira’s one.

JMWE has no usage limitation per month, and it also has other features you can use to customize and expand your workflows. This will also help reducing the number of Jira’s automation executions.

And last but not least, please feel free to contact our support if you have any questions regarding the app.

We’ll be happy to help you! 😉
