Predefined labels

Hi all,

I am new to the JIRA Atlassian world, and I am trying to configure it for my team. I would like to define a set of labels so that, when an issue is created, only the predefined labels are shown as options. Is it possible to do it with Jira?

Although this question is already aged a bit, this might help future readers.

You could go with components:

• They're predefined (by the project admin)
• You can assign none, one or multiple components
• You could still use freetext labels
  (or remove the field @Nic Brough -Adaptavist- suggested)

That breaks the whole point of the labels field.

If you want to do this, remove the labels field from your project(s) and create a new multi-select custom field to replace it.  Those have predefined lists of options.
