Possible to add multiple sub-task types in Jira Server?

I'm currently using a server-hosted version of Jira (v8.22.2) and I'm wondering if it's possible to add multiple sub-task types.

I don't have admin access, and the admins have been pretty cagey when I've asked about this, so any support from the community would be much appreciated.

For context, my team's sprint board uses stories as swim lanes, which helps us break down tasks and user stories into sub-tasks for better collaboration. However, when sprint bugs related to specific tasks or user stories are reported, they appear at the same level as tasks and user stories, dropping to the bottom of the sprint board. While linking issues is possible, it's not visually intuitive on the sprint board.

Ideally, I'd like to create an additional sub-task issue type (like 'Sub-bug') to track bugs more easily during sprints and include them in our existing reports by adding another issue type to the filters.

Can someone confirm if this is possible in Jira Server v8.22.2?

Alternatively, I may explore @Jack Brickey's suggestion about adding an additional field to sub-tasks from this question

Thank you!

Hi @James Woszczynski , additional sub-task issuetypes can be created but will require admin privileges.
