I am new at my company and have been tasked to upgrade our Jira Server from version v6.1 to version 7.0. The end goal is to be able to import a backup created on version 7.0 into a new Jira Cloud account. Since the Jira Cloud account suggested us to upgrade to 7.0. Do you have any recommendations for upgrading from version 6.1 server to version 7.0 server?
Hello @Carlos Arambul ! Welcome to the Atlassian community!
If your end goal is to migrate to Jira Cloud, you're going to want to upgrade to at least 7.6 (this is the minimum version supported by Jira Cloud Migration Assistant or JCMA). Obviously, later is better.
The upgrade guide is at the following link: https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver0713/upgrading-jira-applications-964983182.html
You should look to see if you need to upgrade your database beforehand as well as what apps need to be upgraded as well.
Good luck!
@Robert Wen_Cprime_ Thank you for providing me with a direction. I will read through the documentation you included. I will let you know how things go! :-)
