I am an admin for my Jira account, and I cannot find where to update my own permissions to allow me to delete tasks or child work items. The permissions option is not available for me under Project Settings. Where else can I find this?

Hello @Jenny Hunter

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

What kind of project does this concern? Click the ... button next to the project name in the panel on the left and the pop-up will show you the project type.

If you are working with a Team Managed project you won't see a "Permissions" option in the Project Settings. Instead there is just an option named "Access". In such projects the permissions are assigned to Project Roles and users get permissions by being assigned to the Project Roles. You would need to look at the Project Role to which you are assigned in that project and examine the permissions granted to that role. This is all done through the Access option.

As Jira Application Administrator you should have access to assign yourself to a role in the project.

Hi and welcome to community!

All permissions, including your own as admin, in context of a project depend on the associated Permission scheme and the assigned project roles.

Under project settings you find these here:

In the permission scheme you will find the Delete issues permission:

You can see there which project roles, groups ... have this permission. Then under People and access you can assign yourself the role that gives you the permission for this Permission scheme (and thus this associated project).

Hope this helps!
