Permission setting: Only show active sprint and items

We want to use Jira to plan releases and features on a software product that is developed by an external partner. 

Our current idea is to use a SCRUM board, plan features, releases and sprints and open the sprints for our software partner so he can work on the items. That fits our goals and workflow perfectly until we take security and the external partner into account. We only want the external partner to see and to work on the active sprint and the items of the active sprint.

Can this be configured in the settings and how to do so?
