Performance with Zephyr for Jira

Daniel Phan Tran March 21, 2018

Hi,

I am looking to know if it is a good idea to keep Zephyr for Jira if i have about 350K test cases to be migrated to Jira on prem. Does on cloud or on-prem makes a difference in perfromance? Zephyr refer to Jira performance parameter since a test cases is considered another issue in Jira. Does anyone know if there are some performances informations about Jira.

Do you mean you have 350K historical test cases? Or do you mean that you have 350K tests you need to run on a regular basis? Either way, you're probably better off with an on premise installation. If you don't want to manage it, feel free to reach out to me, or another Atlassian Partner who provides managed hosting.

We have several products and groups that are currently using Jira on prem instance and we are wondering if Zephyr for Jira is a good option if we plan to migrate about 350K to 700K test cases that would need to be run on a regular basis onto the platform. My understanding is that the amount of test cases will impact the performance of Jira since everything is under the same DB. Is there any recommendation for performance? At what point should we not consider using the zephyr plugin and use some separate Test management tool?

Thanks

I think that 700k test cases would work, the question is how much time and resources you want to put into making Jira scale vs implementing and running a separate test management tool. My guess is that the effort and costs will be comparable.
