Hi

we have developed Defect management system using JIRA that has been upgraded from version 8.x to 10.x recently as per Atlassian’s (vendor) recommendation.

After upgrade, we observed significant degradation of performance, like users are unable to create/update records and unable to load dashboards etc.

Any idea what could be the reason?

Or

Any Recommendations to resolve this issue?

Thanks in Advance

Dev

Hi Dev,

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

To confirm, you noted upgraded your system to Jira 10, so I assume that means you are running Jira Data Center correct?

If that is the case, there are a few things to check, but ultimately this is probably best served by support issue to our support team for further analysis.  A few "normal" reasons why you could have performance issues after an upgrade of Jira Data Center would be things like:

  • Configuration files not updated to supply Jira with the proper amount of Heap Space.  Without this the system may be performing a lot of full garbage collection events leading to the application appearing to be unresponsive.
  • If the database was upgraded or migrated, you may need to rebuild indices on tables.  If you are seeing high CPU usage on your database server that can often times be an indicator that you need to update the statistics and indexes.
  • The Jira search index is corrupted or fragmented.  Usually you need to perform a reindex after major version upgrades.  If you haven't done this it can lead to high latency in searching.

But I caution here as these are just common potential reasons.  Ultimately I would strongly recommend engaging our support team with a support zip to perform a more detailed analysis on what might be the root cause of the issue.

Best,
Andy
