On registering time spend on a task, we would like to allocate the effort to a GL account, in order to integrate this with our financial system which will then calculate the cost related to the hrs and assign this to the provide GL account.

Where could we allocate this GL account, which has to be derived from any of the standard available objects from Jira.

This is a typical use case that Tempo Timesheets may help you solve. Apart from extending the built-in time tracking functionality of Jira, it adds the concept of an account to your worklogs. And that is usually the perfect concept to link your worklogs in Jira to your business accounting system.

There's more functionality in the app to support your use case on top of that. I'd recommend you check out the documentation for a better assessment.
