Old User accounts sometimes don't show in tickets after migration.

After our final TEST export to JIRA Cloud we noticed that our older tickets all say "Former user" instead of a user account. For example...

1 ticket in particular has 3 former employees (all inactive accounts on jira server). If I look at the ticket on JIRA server I can see all 3 users in the history of the ticket.

If I look at the same ticket in JIRA cloud (after a migration) I can only see 2 of the former employees, but the last one shows as Former user in the ticket.

None of these accounts exist in the JIRA cloud instance, but 2 of the user accounts show history. Why does the 3rd one show Former user.

I get that it may seem silly, but we need to preserve the user history/comments of the tickets.

Thanks,

Mike

@Mike Bell This should help you out and explain what is happening - https://support.atlassian.com/migration/docs/migrate-users-and-groups/

Deleted or inactive users and directories

Any deleted users or users in inactive directories that are referenced in your Jira data will appear as Former user after migration. If you need to migrate the references to these users, reactivate them (or the directory) before migrating.

Users with disabled status in your Server site will be migrated as active but without any product access. This means they will not be counted as active Jira users for billing purposes. Learn how users are managed in Cloud
