Forgive me as I'm on the lower side of Atlassian Admin knowledge. I've got a DTO mucking about with AI tools and wants MCP access that will allow the agent to authenticate as the logged in user via an Agent. When he accesses the Jira instance, it prompts him for Consent, but our users don't have that right. Is there I way I can make this happen from the "server side" without giving him Org Admin every time he finds a new AI tool to play with?
For Jira Cloud, user consent for OAuth 2.0 (3LO) apps is controlled at the organization level through the **Connected apps** settings in Atlassian Admin. If you want to bypass individual consent prompts, you can pre-authorize the app by going to **admin.atlassian.com** > Security > **OAuth 2.0 (3LO) apps** and approving it for the whole org. This allows all users to authenticate without needing the “Approve” step themselves, and doesn’t require granting Org Admin rights to the developer. If the AI tool needs server-side access without acting as a specific user, consider using an **OAuth 2.0 (Client Credentials)** or **API token** with a service account instead.
