When accessing to the Jira dashboard, on the bottom left, there is a bell icon that displays all the notifications for the tickets.
I want to restrict an user to only see one project. After modifying the permission scheme, he's not able to access the rest of the projects, but still can see tickets for another projects in this section.
Is there any solution to this problem?
Thanks in advance.
Notifications in Jira Cloud are time sensitive. By that I mean, if user jsmith had access to project xyz and someone made a change to one or more issues he was watching, he would be expected to get notifications for those changes at that time (notification scheme permitting). Those notifications won't be hidden because suddenly the user does not have access to the project if those notifications have already been sent. This is based in the same concept as email notifications for Jira, once it's sent, we don't have the expectation to be able to retract a notification.
However the notification system in Jira is dependent on the user having permissions to issues in the project. Since it sounds like you have removed those, the user won't be able to get notifications for issues in that project any longer because he does not have access.
Is the user still getting new notifications after your permission changes? If so then it might help to use the admin helper in Jira Cloud to better understand the permissions and/or notification settings in place that are allowing that user to still get that specific notification.
Hi Andrew,
Thanks for your answer.
Unfortunately, this user is still able to view in the notification tab the last events. So, I decided to check also the admin helper for notifications and permissions to see if he has some kind of access to the tickets in this project, and it displays this message:
xxx does not receive notifications for the (i.E.: 'Issue Commented') event.
He should not be allowed to see these notifications, but I'm still having this problem.
Kind regards.
