Notification Scheme not working for User Custom Field Value

I have created a custom user field called Tester

I want the user picked in this field to receive a notification in Jira

 

People set as watchers with the eye button do get notifications

People set as assignee in the Assignee field do get notifications

People set as reporter in the Reporter field do get notifications

But people set as tester in the Tester field do not receive the notification

The scheme is assigned to the project and the user has enabled all notifications

 

What can we do?   

 

Backup plan: set users from the custom tester field as watchers automatically - can I do this in automation or is it only for specific users not 'users from a custom field' ?

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

 

One of the potential reasons the user might not be receiving notifications is the issue visibility. If a user doesn’t have permission to view an issue, notification won’t be triggered.

  • For Company-managed: Browse projects permission + security levels (if issue security is configured for the project).

  • For team-managed: project role granted to the user (based on access level) + issue restrictions (if configured for the given issue type/work type).

Hey @emilyhueg

 

Can you please check the email audit under Project Settings > Notifications > Project email audit? Do you see any unsent emails there? If so, it is likely because the users are suppressed. You can unblock them from there.

If that's not the case, please check your Junk/spam folders as well. Does the notification email land there by any chance?

Hi thank you, the e-mail is set up but my dream is for the in-browser notification bell to tell when something happens not for e-mails to be sent 

 

and right now only asignees get the notification bell

hmm maybe there is no way to solve this problem, since you do get the bell notification when you are the assignee or reporter
