Not Seeing All Groups When Editing a Filter's Permissions

Michael Ortega May 31, 2023

I am trying to give permissions to specific Atlassian groups that I know exist because I created them however, when trying to search for these groups, they do not show up. There is only an initial list of six groups and typing in a search nets no other groups to show up. Am I doing something wrong or need to do anything specific for groups to show up here?

Hi Michael - Welcome to that Atlassian Community!

You must be a member of the group in order to see the group and use it in granting permissions. Even if you are a Jira Admin or Site Admin, you still must be a part of the group. Add yourself to the group long enough to update the shares and then take yourself back out if needed. Note: you will need to be a Site Admin to modify the group.

I do not like how that system works but it surely works that way. Thank you!

Yeah, that's a weird one for me, too. And sometimes I still forget about it.
