Anyone knows about next-gen projects in Jira SERVER. Is the Atlassian working on this?

Let me reference to an answer from Jason Wong (from Atlassian) from recent AMA (https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/G-day-I-m-Jason-Wong-Lead-Product-Manager-for-Jira-Software/qaq-p/928598)

We are working very closely with the Jira Server team to learn from customer feedback on the new Cloud features, and which may make sense to build in Server. While we can't promise when (or if) specific features will be deployed in JIra Server, we'll be balancing which elements of the Cloud experience would be most valuable with our other priorities around performance, admin control, and team productivity.
