None of the descriptions of steps to take start with the project home screen I see. All have many more project specific options in the navigation pane than I see.
Most help on this topic has a navigation pane like this:
@Keith Thomas Highlight on the new project name as you can see from the attached picture to reveal the Create board + sign, then:
Select Create board (usually top right).
Choose Scrum board.
Then you’ll see two options:
Create a new board from an existing project, or
Create a new board from an existing Saved Filter.
Give your board a name, select the project(s) you want to include, and click Create board.

Thank you, I have got the hang of spaces and adjusted to things popping up on the right of the screen when I'm looking for them in the navigation pane. I have a Scrum space, now I need a Scrumboard. This is a Scrumboard where User Stories appear in the left hand column and Tasks/SubTasks (why does Jira have both) in the other columns (but not with the given headings for Tasks/Subtasks - even the example I screen grabbed is waterfall! Agile shouldn't be this hard peeps.)

it seems like you created a work management project. To use Scrum boards you can a create Software project.

Thank you, that is helpful. Now to translate Spaces into and an R&D Product Development project.
