None of the descriptions of steps to take start with the project home screen I see. All have many more project specific options in the navigation pane than I see.
Most help on this topic has a navigation pane like this:
@Keith Thomas Highlight on the new project name as you can see from the attached picture to reveal the Create board + sign, then:
Select Create board (usually top right).
Choose Scrum board.
Then you’ll see two options:
Create a new board from an existing project, or
Create a new board from an existing Saved Filter.
Give your board a name, select the project(s) you want to include, and click Create board.

it seems like you created a work management project. To use Scrum boards you can a create Software project.
