New JIRA registered ONLY user directed to Confluence page and gets " Not permitted"

I created users for JIRA ONLY access.

They got their invitation email but when they client the link, they go to https://"companyname".atlassian.net/wiki and get the message :

"Administration/ Users

Not Permitted

You are not permitted to perform this operation."

I checked that:

• the users have application access
• the users have been granted access
• their group is added to the project
• the group has application access

I do not know what to do / check next?

I wanted the user to access Jira only, not Confluence.

I seem to have fix the issue but not sure how unfortunately.

It may have been because the user default log in screen was Confluence (but this should be overriden if they are not given access to Confluence).

And /or because the 2 of the 3 users groups were not shared with the relevant filters.

I find it all complicated but most frustrating, the navigation menu for set-up and settings is bamboozling.

Atlassian have received feedback.
