Hello Dear Atlassian Community,
I hope I find a solution here.
Looking for a way to sort Jira statuses in dashboards (such as in the Two-Dimensional Gadget) by workflow order or alphabetically, as the default sorting by creation time is messy and difficult to manage with multiple projects and status changes over time.
In multiple projects I create different statuses based on requirement, some projects complete earlier than others and when new projects are created, we use old done status which was created when Jira was installed or by default. when we add new in-progress status and use old done status, in "Two Dimensional" dashboard gadget".
the statuses show only as the time of when they're created but not as per the alphabatic order or the status order as per workflow.
Looking forward to know if there is anyonne facing the same issue.

Hello @Raghava Nani
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
I have found this change request related to sorting Statuses in Jira Data Center.
https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-67549
You may want to add your vote to it.
Beyond that I think you will have to consider either exporting the data and generate your report in another application, or look for a third party plugin for Jira that gives you a dashboard widget that enables you to control the sort by Status.
Hi @Raghava Nani,
Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
Unfortunately, the Jira's Two Dimensional Statistics Gadget does not support sorting by fields; it only only allows sorting by row totals.
If the sorting by field used is important to you, then an possible solution would be to search for a plugin on Atlassian Marketplace that provides such gadget with sorting capabilities.
In case you want to try a plugin, our Great Gadgets app offers a Pivot Table & Pivot Chart gadget that, by default, sorts by field values in ascending order. As you can see, in this example, the statuses and projects are sorted:
This gadget allows also grouping data by status categories, in this case the default sorting will be more natural To Do, In Progress, Done.
This gadget also allows you to sort data by values, and to split the data by many fields (not only two), or to display the data in form of charts of various types. See more examples in the context of JSM here: https://community.atlassian.com/forums/App-Central-articles/An-effective-dashboard-for-Service-Desk-and-Customer-Support/ba-p/2360369
Hope this helps.
Danut.

Last I remember they are sorted by their order in Statuses page. So just reorder them until you get something resembling what you want in the way of Open -> In Progress -> Done
Creation date is irrelevant other than that you're creating new stuff at the end of the chain.
The issue you'll find is that reordering may affect other projects/teams that use them so keep that in mind. Typically a problem where, for some, "Open" is the initial state, but for others they use "Open" somewhere in the middle of the workflow for whatever twisted use case.
