My jira server (localhost:8080) is not running on mac

installed JDK 

set Jira_home using configuration tool

started start-jira.sh

Stilll localhost:8080 not working

Could you define "not working"?

Error message from Jira?  Service not responding?  Browser error?  Login screen, but it won't let you log in?

What steps have you taken to identify the problem?   What do the logs say?  What have you done differently from what the documentation says?
