My Jira Subscription was deactivated due to inactivity.  Is there anyway to reactivate it and to recover my data?

Hi @ken dev ,

Welcome to Community!  This article has the information about how to reactivate the account:

https://support.atlassian.com/subscriptions-and-billing/docs/reactivate-a-subscription/

Your app’s data is retained for 15 days (for free subscriptions) or 60 days (for paid subscriptions) after cancellation. If you reactive your subscription within this data retention period, your app's data and preferences will be restored.

At the end of the data retention period, your app’s data will be permanently deleted and can’t be recovered. Read our Data Storage FAQs for more information.

If you're having issue reactivating, you can contact Support here: https://support.atlassian.com/contact/#/

Hi @ken dev

Please try out this steps

  • Go to admin.atlassian.com/billing and log in.

  • On the Subscriptions page, choose the Inactive tab.

  • Find your inactive subscription and select Reactivate.

  • Review your subscription and billing details, then confirm to reactivate.

  • Your subscription should then move to the Active tab on the billing page.

Your Jira subscription may be deactivated due to billing issues, an expired card, or the end of a trial. Check your payment details and account notifications to identify the exact reason. Once updated, you can quickly restore access. Staying informed through resources like punjab schemes can also help manage tools and opportunities more effectively.

Hello @ken dev

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

How long ago was the subscription deactivated?

Were you using a free subscription?

Were you paying for subscriptions to any products on the same site? You can refer to the following page for information about how long data is retained for deactivated and cancelled subscriptions.

Your Jira subscription was likely deactivated due to an expired payment method, exceeded user license count, or an expired trial. To resolve this, please log into your Atlassian account at atlassian to check your billing status and update the conversation app any payment information. If the issue persists, contact Atlassian Support directly for the fastest resolution.

Yeah, this situation is more common than it looks, so don’t stress too much.

From what you described, your Jira subscription was likely deactivated due to inactivity or a billing-related issue — both are pretty standard triggers. The good news is that there’s usually a recovery window, but timing really matters here.

From what I’ve seen (and experienced myself), here’s what you should focus on:

Try reactivating it from the billing panel: admin.atlassian.com → Billing → Inactive → Reactivate

Check how long it’s been inactive — your data is typically محفوظ for 15–60 days depending on the plan

If you’re outside that window, unfortunately, recovery might not be possible and you’d need to start fresh

If the Reactivate option isn’t working, don’t waste time looping — just contact Atlassian support directly (they can manually restore in some cases)

One thing I’ve learned the hard way: tools like Jira are powerful, but they’re also strict with lifecycle rules. If you’re not actively using them, they basically “expire” your workspace.

Funny enough, this reminds me of how I treat mod apps from platforms like HappyMod — you still need to keep things updated and active, otherwise stuff breaks or disappears. Different ecosystem, same lesson: digital tools don’t wait around forever.

If you’re still within the retention period, act fast — that’s really the difference between full recovery and starting from zero.
