We have used Trello in the past for simple Dev planning. We have also used Jira for Dev planning, using Sprints. With Trello, as it is 'light' we can simply have all 'sprints' on one board, the column being the work in hand on that sprint, and it showing as 'done' within that column when it is done. This gives us the ability to scroll 'back' along the columns to see the content of each sprint, as each column is the sprint. Within Jira, as Jira likes to use steps and a workflow, it seems impossible to show this 'archive' on one board..? Has anyone has a similar issue or a solution?
Jira scrum boards represent a single active sprint only. One thing you might be able to do is to use a kanban board and have 'sprints' as swimlanes. So instead of columns you have rows. Something to try. You may find that you will want to create a custom field to represent sprints or maybe just us Labels. This will allow you to create JQL for your sprint swimlanes.
Cool, thanks, did think about Swimlanes, will give it a try... Its more for a quick look back at previous sprints, especially useful for things like A/B tests that were performed in previous sprints, can then label the result as a quick ref...
