On a previous version of jira at a previous employer, on an issue I had the option to add a comment at the same time as assigning that issue. It doesn't appear to be a default option, how do I add this to my project?
See attached, this button opened a new window and would allow me to change the assignee and add a comment together, and when the assignee received the issue they would get a notification including both pieces of information.
Hi Andy, welcome to the Community and the new Jira UI. ;-)
indeed in the previous version the transitions and certain actions were buttons as you illustrate. Now things are simplified. To change the assignee just click the Assignee field. To transition an issue into any one of the available next statuses click on the Status field.
Thanks for the reply. Is there no way to replicate this functionality in the latest version?
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
I believe Server still behaves like the old UI. There isn’t a way to change back.

Can make a transition with a transition screen with Assignee on it. From any status to itself. That would simulate the behavior.
