We have purchased JIRA server license for 10 users for initial deployment in our organization. We evaluated JIRA software on cloud and have created few project.

Now, we would like to migrate those project to server. We have gone through Import and export option, although there is an option to create back up for server, this option is grayed out. Please let me know how we can create back up for server from already existing cloud.

Hi @Ashfaq Ahmed ,

As mentioned by above screeshot.

Your site contains next-gen projects. Jira server products and Jira Data Center don't support these.

To create a backup for server, either:

  • Bulk move important issues from next-gen projects into classic projects administered by schemes. Then, delete your next-gen projects.
  • Or, delete all next-gen projects and their issues outright.

Hello @Ashfaq Ahmed

Per your description, I believe you might be facing the following bug in your Jira site, where a Next-gen project in the trash page is blocking your Jira Server backup:

Next-Gen Projects in Trash Prevent Backup For Server

Feel free to vote and watch the bug to increase its priority and also receive notifications about its fix implementation.

To work around the problem, click in the project drop-down at the header of Jira application > View all projects > Click in the "Trash" page and remove all the next-gen projects there:

P.S: Also check the archive page to confirm you don't have any Next-gen projects archived.

Let us know if you have any questions.
