Migration JIRA Agile Data 6.3 to 7.0

buaydin January 9, 2017

Hi,

We are planning to setup a new JIRA instance with JIRA 7.0.(On 64 Bit Server)

İs it possible to export Agile data(from JIRA 6.3 32 Bit Server) and import to new JIRA instance without any loss? (For example: board configurations, sprints, epic statuses, reports)

Thanks

No, but yes.  Sort of.

JIRA Agile will not work on JIRA 7.  Instead, you have to use the JIRA Software application.  This understands JIRA Agile data and will import and upgrade it fine.

For your migration, I would strongly recommend thinking about it in two phases.  You need to upgrade JIRA 6.3 with Agile, and the best way to do that is to upgrade it to JIRA Software (not JIRA Core then add Software later, use the download for JIRA Software and do it all in one go).  Then move it to another server.  You might well want to do it in one go, but think about it as two distinct steps.
