Hi,

We currently use Jira Software w/ Cloud with the "GitHub" Plugin

However we are looking to migrate to Jira Data Center but I have noticed that the "GitHub" Plugin is only available for Cloud.

Having a look on the Marketplace, I found "Git Integration for Jira" but was unsure if this is the same as the "GitHub" Plugin itself.

Basically just looking for confirmation as to what is the best alternate that matches as close as possible to the Cloud "GitHub" Plugin

Appreciate all advice!

Thanks

Hi Richard,

I see that you are migrating from Jira Cloud to Data Center and have some concerns about how to integrate this new Jira platform with your github data.

For Jira Software Server and Data Center, you actually don't even need a 3rd party plugin to do this.  Jira Software Server and DC ships with a DVCS plugin natively.  This plugin allows you to link your Jira site to a github or bitbucket repo.   More details are in Linking a Bitbucket or GitHub repository with Jira.   Of course the marketplace will list other solutions here as well, but it is unclear to me what additional features they might provide above and beyond what is shipped natively in Jira Software Server/DC.

This DVCS plugin was once available in Jira Cloud as well, but a few months back Atlassian deprecated support for this plugin to connect Jira Cloud to github in favor of Githubs own plugin/add-on/app.  Lots more details about this change to Jira Cloud in Everything you need to know about migrating from the DVCS Connector to the new GitHub for Jira app if you're interested.

I hope this helps.

Andy
