I have setup an existing JIRA connection to an external LDAP User Directory and now my organization is migrating users to another domain or LDAP directory where the username format is different.
The preferred fix by Atlassian is to use a temporary additional attribute to change the usernames used in the original/old directory before migrating to the new directory allows you to preserve associations in the course of migrating.
I am not sure on how to proceed as I don't know what the attribute should be and where to apply it.
