Migrate JIRA project from one server to another

francois vlerick September 14, 2018

Hi all

I'd like to migrate some jira projects from a instance (6.3.11 server) to my Cloud instance.

Which is the best mean?

I'm quite sure I'll have a few configuration matters (workflows, screens), but this is quite easy to fix... My concern is more about

How to export versions / components and then issues from jira 6.3.11 server?

How to import them in Jira Cloud?

Thanks a lot,

In theory there are 3 main steps..

  1. You upgrade to the latest version of JIRA (since Cloud is similar to that and that is recommendation)
  2. Backup and Export data from your JIRA Server
  3. Import data to JIRA Cloud

Then you see what kind of errors you get :)

I suggest to start with this documentation:
