Message Safety Self-Assessement Program

Lucas Pinhati Lopes July 14, 2023

Hello!

I'm trying to install an app, but it has a message about security. I saw that it is the Security Self-Assessment Program.

Message: "This partner has not completed the Security Self-Assessment Program. The program will be deprecated in August 2023 and replaced with the Privacy & Security tab"

With that be afraid to install the app.

I wanted to understand what this message is about and if the app is safe.

Thanks!

Hi @Lucas Pinhati Lopes and welcome to the Community!

This article from the Atlassian Developer Community explains what the self assessment program is.

Atlassian considers security a very important cornerstone of its own and its ecosystem's offerings, but offers partners the possibility to run a self assessment to reassure you as a customer that the app meets the necessary requirements.

The message is just saying that the vendor of this app has not conducted that assessment. Maybe they were not ready, they are still planning to do so or have other reasons why they did not do that. It does not necessarily mean the app is not safe; only it has not been formally assessed. You can always check the app's marketplace listing and reach out to the vendor directly through the support contact details listed there to share your concerns with them directly.

Hope this helps!
