Member of system-administrators, still cannot share a filter

I am a member of the system-administrators group, so should be able to do anything in our Jira system.

However, when I create a new filter, I am not able to share that filter with others.

I took these steps:
1) Create filter. Details link appears next to "Save as" button.
2) Click Details link.
3) Popup appears, but there is no sharing option.

So I can't even share my own filter.

What do I need to do to share my filter with others?

Hi @Matt Perdeck

The system-admin group is like any other group - it needs to be provided permissions to perform certain actions. It's worth checking if your group(s) have the global permission Create Shared Objects - to check this:

  • Go to Jira Administration (cog in top-right of navigation bar)
  • Select System
  • On the left-hand menu in System, select Global Permissions
  • Ensure this permission has your group within it (i.e system-administrators)
  • If it does not, scroll to the bottom - select this permission and add it to the missing group(s)

^ Likewise, if you want to manage filter subscriptions - you'll need to have the global permission 'Manage Group Filter Subscriptions'

Thanks, that solved it for me. I didn't realise that "system-administrators" is just a name, and that that group needs to be given permissions like other groups.

I found that in our setup the permission "Create Shared Objects" has been given to some other group that I wasn't a member of. Made myself a member of that group, and that then solved it for me.
