Hey, I am wondering how do I make Jira and Slack use the correct user group when tagged either in Jira or in Slack and viseversa?
I am currently using @Assist so our employees can create tickets directly from a designated Slack channel, then when they use the @slack-usergroup-example, Jira shows "@group564654874", same happens if they tag @jira-team-example then Slack only shows @group-123455467. So in both cases the tagging only works either in Jira or in Slack and not in both.
I am trying to link, map or connect the groups in Jira with the ones in Slack.
Is there a way to do it?
Jira and Slack don’t support direct mapping between Jira “Teams” or user groups and Slack user groups. When you mention a Slack user group through @Assist, the integration posts the raw Slack group ID (like `@group-12345`) because Slack’s API doesn’t expose user group display names to third-party apps. Likewise, Jira mentions (`@team-name` or `@user`) resolve only within Jira’s user directory and aren’t recognized by Slack. The two systems keep separate identity graphs, so the “@” syntax can’t sync across them.
To make mentions more readable, define [Slack notification rules in Jira Cloud for Slack](
