For some reason I can't send e-mails anymore. My mail provider didnt changed a things, so it'll be probably because of Jira? This is the error of test email:
An error has occurred with sending the test email:
com.atlassian.mail.MailException: javax.mail.MessagingException: Could not convert socket to TLS;
nested exception is:
javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target
Hi Jasper,
It looks like there's an issue with your certificate.
Please review this article with your server administrator and it should help narrow down your issue:
Let me know if you have any trouble.

Hello,
I have the same problem.
I transfer our atlassian products (jira, bitbucket, confluence and bamboo) to new vms.
Now bitbucket cant send emails. The other applications is that not a problem.
All applications run without ssl.
Bitbucket email-test returns: Senden der E-Mail fehlgeschlagen. Prüfen Sie bitte die Konfiguration des E-Mailservers und lesen Sie die Logs für mehr Details.
The log shows: Mail server connection failed; nested exception is javax.mail.MessagingException: Could not convert socket to TLS
Do you have a idea?
Best recards

Hello Christian,
Thank you for your reply. Are you also seeing the error message:
javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed
If so, there's an issue with your certificate configuration. You'll need to determine if everything was applied correctly, which that article can help you with.
If you continue to have issues, you can raise a new question on Community or contact Support if have an account type which includes support.
Take care!
