@Maria Taylor, what this means is that every column on a board must have a status form the workflow. Think of the boards and columns simply as filters for issues. In order for issues to appear in a column the column must have a status mapped to it. For example To Do column would have To Do status. If you are the project admin or board owner go to board settings > columns and look on the far right for any unmapped statuses and ensure they are mapped to appropriate columns by dragging and dropping.
