Limit shown spaces for users

Hi all,

I am trying to reduce the shown spaces for basic users in Jira.

At the moment, a user can see all the space-names, even though the issues themselves are hidden. Still, this enables users to see the names of spaces they are not working in and also the list of spaces is getting rather long.

Is there any way to generally hide all spaces from the navigation when someone is not specifically added as a user in the space settings? E.g. User A has access to Space 1 and 2 in the space settings, but Space 3 and 4 should not be shown in the navigation unless I add User A as a user there, too.

I have removed the general access for all logged in users from the used permission scheme. At the moment, it should only enable the space roles administrators and users and there is no standard group set for the space role user.

What else am I missing?

You need to limit the Browse Projects permission for the roles in your project that are using it and also check if your space has Any logged in user added as a role, which is usually the case.

thank you. The Browse Projects permission include only space roles (administrator, project lead and user). All the members that should see the spaces are added as users but still see spaces where they are not users.

In the space itself and in the permission schemes I have not used the Any logged in user role.

• The users that can see these spaces, what type of users are they?
• Are these spaces team-managed or company-managed spaces?

it is a company managed space. 

The concerned users are all "User" for the product Jira and then within the spaces they should see, they have the space role called User as well.

They are not part of the spaces they should not see in any capacity as far as I can tell.

Was this behavior always like this or did it start to happen recently? What product they have for the Jira Administration?

the whole Jira space is fairly new, I have been trying to adapt this since the beginning.

Sorry, not sure what exactly you mean regarding the Jira Administration. My example user has only the User role for Jira and confluence

There is another app called Jira Administration that makes a regular user a Jira admin, but in this case, this is a regular user. Have you checked in the space roles section for the User role, do they have the default users being assigned?

yes, I have checked the space role section, no default users or user group is set.

I am starting to doubt if it is even possible to hide the spaces for non-members...
